Vibe coding vs no-code
No-code keeps the app in the builder. Vibe coding writes files you can read. Lovable Free cannot download code. Bolt Free publishes with branding.
Answer
Pick no-code, or a browser builder, if you want a page without a project folder. Pick vibe coding with a coding agent if you want files you can keep and read. On the plans checked 3 November 2026, Lovable Free cannot download code, and Bolt Free publishes to a bolt.host URL with branding. This site has not built the same app both ways.
The difference that matters
No-code, in the way beginners use the word, means the app lives inside someone else's builder. You configure pages, data, and buttons. You may never see a file. When you stop paying, what you can take with you depends on that product's export rules.
Vibe coding means you describe the outcome and a coding agent writes or edits files. You still look at the result and ask for the next change. What is vibe coding? is the short definition on this site. The agent does not remove you from the project. It changes who types the first draft.
The two are easy to blur because the browser app builders on this site, Bolt and Lovable, feel like no-code. You type a sentence. A page appears. You did not open an editor. Under the page, they are still generating an app, and the plan decides whether you can take the code.
This guide does not review classic drag-and-drop site builders. It does not quote their prices. The choice here is between the doors this site actually documents.
If you want a page and you do not want files yet
Start in the browser. Pick one tool.
Lovable is the closer no-code feeling on the free plan. The subscription docs, checked on 3 November 2026, mark edit code and download code as absent on Free and present on Pro. You can try a build. You cannot leave with the repository until a paid plan. Is Lovable free? lists the grants: 5 build credits a day, capped at 30 a month, plus Cloud and AI grants. That is a hosted trial with a ceiling, which is what people hope no-code will be.
Bolt is also a browser builder. Bolt's pricing page, checked the same day, lists Free at $0 with hosting, public and private projects, and Bolt branding. Custom domains are not included. The billing help says the published site is a bolt.host URL with a Made in Bolt badge, and that going over the bandwidth or request cap takes the site offline for the rest of the month. Bolt's free limits has the token caps: 1 million a month, 300,000 a day.
Both are fair first clicks if the goal is to see something today. They are a bad first click if you already know a client will ask for the Git repository tonight. Lovable will not give you that on Free. Bolt will host a branded URL, and you should still read what the project contains before you call it yours.
Bolt vs Lovable lines up the published plans. How to build an app without coding is the afternoon path. The app builders category is the list. Open one builder, not the whole list.
If you want files you can keep
That is the coding-agent door. You need a folder first, even a tiny one.
Cursor is an editor with an agent. What is Cursor? covers the plans: Free with limited requests, Plus at $8 a month for Grok models only, Premium at $30 before third-party models that bill separately. You are looking at diffs in an editor. That is vibe coding with the files in front of you. It is a clumsy way to get a first birthday page if you have never used an editor.
Claude Code is a terminal agent, also available in an IDE, Slack, and the web. It is not included on Claude's free plan. Pro is $20 a month, or $17 a month when $200 is billed annually, and it includes Claude Code. That price was rechecked on 3 November 2026. Claude Code for beginners has the install steps from Anthropic's quickstart. You point it at a project and read what it changes.
These tools assume you can open a folder and decide whether a change is acceptable. That is more responsibility than a hosted builder, and it is also how you avoid being stuck inside one vendor's export rules. Cursor vs Claude Code is the comparison. The coding agents category is the rest of the set.
A way to choose without a score
Ask one question: do I need the files this week?
If no, use Lovable or Bolt. Stay on the free cap until the page is real enough that a missing domain or a missing download hurts. Then read the paid row. Do not pay on the first hour because the button is there.
If yes, do not start on Lovable Free. Use a coding agent, or use Lovable only after you are willing to pay for the plan that includes download. Bolt can be a draft you later move, but this guide will not pretend that move is free or tested. vibestacklab has not migrated a Bolt project into a local editor.
If you are not sure, you do not need the files yet. Ship the one-page version in a browser builder. The moment someone else has to run the app, or you want it in GitHub under your account as code you can read, switch doors on purpose. Git and GitHub for vibe coders is the next skill on that path, not a prerequisite for the first bolt.host URL.
What neither choice does for you
Neither one checks that the app is correct. A no-code style publish can be wrong and still have a URL. An agent can sound sure and still edit the wrong file. You look.
Neither one sets the monthly cost by itself. How much vibe coding costs keeps the entry prices in one place: $0 until a cap on the browser tools, then plans at $25 for Bolt Pro or Lovable's 100-credit Pro, $8 or $30 for Cursor, $20 a month for Claude Pro. Adding a database is another product. Skip it until the page must remember someone.
Checked on 3 November 2026 for the Lovable and Bolt limits named above. Classic no-code vendors are outside this check. Use their own pricing pages.

Questions
Is Lovable no-code or vibe coding?
It is a prompt-to-app builder. On Free you cannot download the code, so the result stays in Lovable. On Pro, the docs include code download. The workflow is still describing the app, which is the vibe-coding loop, inside their host until you export.
Which should a beginner pick?
If you have no folder of code and you want to see a page today, pick Bolt or Lovable and stay on one of them. If you already have a repository, pick a coding agent. This is a reading of the product shape, not a test.
Will I learn to code this way?
Only if you read the changes. A no-code style stay inside the builder can ship a page without that reading. A coding agent shows you files. You still have to look.
Did vibestacklab compare build times?
No. There is no shared task and no timer. The differences below are published plan limits and the kind of tool each one is.
