Best free AI app builders (2026)
The free AI app builders you can still start in 2026, with each ceiling linked to the vendor page it came from. There is no tested best.
Answer
There is no tested best. Bolt, Lovable, v0, and Replit Agent are the free app builders on this site that still accept new users, as of the 15 October 2026 check. Firebase Studio is free for existing workspaces and closed to new ones. Pick from the free ceiling you can live with, not from a score.

Read this before the list
"Best" in the title is the question people type. It is not a trophy this site has handed out. vibestacklab has not generated an app in these products. There is no speed, no cost from a lab run, and no quality score. What follows is the free path each vendor published, checked on 15 October 2026, and who that path is for. This guide was written on 20 October 2026 from those pages. It is not a new price check.
The catalog page for the set is app builders. The decision page, if you are still choosing a door, is Pick your vibe coding stack.
A free plan here means $0 to open an account and try a build. It does not mean unlimited, and it does not mean you own a custom domain. Read the ceiling before you spend an afternoon.
The four you can still start
Bolt.new
Bolt is a browser builder priced in tokens. Free is $0 with 300,000 tokens a day, 1 million tokens a month, hosting, and Bolt branding. Custom domains are not on Free. The pricing page is bolt.new/pricing.
Bolt says most token use is syncing the project files to the model, so a bigger project costs more per message. That is why "1 million tokens" is not a promise of a finished app. The billing help says a Supabase database requires Pro or Teams. If your first version needs saved users, Free is the wrong Bolt plan, or the database should wait.
Pro starts at $25 a month for 10 million tokens, with no daily token limit on that tier, no Bolt branding, and custom domains. Teams is $30 per member a month, and tokens are not shared. Forge dates disagree across Bolt's own pages: the help center ends the Pro preview on 14 October 2026, and the pricing page still said Forge was included until 18 October when it was checked. Both sentences are quoted on the tool page. This guide does not smooth that over.
Beginner fit is 5. That means it starts from a prompt in the browser. It is not a measured rank.
If you choose Bolt, use the labeled button. It is an affiliate link. Referred users get 20% off. vibestacklab may earn a commission. The list on this page does not move because of it. See the affiliate disclosure.
Visit siteAffiliate link: you get 20% off, we may earn a commission. It never affects our ratings.Lovable
Lovable is a prompt-to-app builder priced by workspace credits, not by seat. Free grants 5 build credits a day, capped at 30 a month, plus 20 Cloud credits and 4 AI credits a month. The plan docs are Lovable's subscription page. Free cannot edit or download code, and it cannot use a custom domain.
That download limit is the part beginners miss. You can watch a build. You cannot yet take the code with you. Pro's 100-credit tier is $25 a month, or $250 a year, and that is where the docs put code download, custom domains, and removing the badge. Members are unlimited on every plan. One credit pool, no seat fee.
Beginner fit is 5, for the same editorial reason as Bolt. Bolt vs Lovable for beginners is the side-by-side if those two are the shortlist. The comparison page is Bolt vs Lovable.
v0
v0 is Vercel's prompt-to-UI product. Free is $0 with a 7 message a day limit. Deploy to Vercel, Design Mode, and GitHub sync are listed on that plan. The pricing page is v0.app/pricing. Plus is $30 per user a month with $30 of monthly credits. The bill grows by user, not by a shared pool. That is the opposite of Lovable.
Beginner fit is 4. You still need to read what it generated before you treat it as an app. Lovable vs v0 is the page if the choice is a shared credit pool versus a Vercel deploy.
Replit Agent
Replit Agent builds inside a cloud workspace. Starter is free, with a daily Agent allowance and one published app that comes down after 30 days. The Made with Replit badge stays on. The Starter docs do not print the credit counts, and this page does not guess them. The plan page is Replit Starter.
Core is $20 a month, or $18 a month billed annually. That is the plan that adds paid Agent modes and unlimited published apps, on the pages checked 15 October 2026.
Beginner fit is 4. Pick Replit when you want files, an editor, and publish in one place, and you can accept a free URL that expires. Replit vs Bolt says Replit is closer to a cloud IDE and Bolt is closer to a prompt-to-site builder.
The one that looks free and is closed
Firebase Studio still shows up in old posts as a free AI workspace. New signup and new workspaces have been disabled since 22 June 2026. Access for people who already have a workspace is described as no cost until 22 March 2027, when remaining Studio data is deleted. Apps already deployed to Firebase are not the thing being deleted. Do not send a beginner there to start. The quiz skips it.
How to choose without a score
Use the ceiling you can actually live with this week.
- You want a prompt, a page, and hosting inside the tool: Bolt or Lovable. Read the token cap or the credit cap before you start.
- You want the code later, on the free plan: do not pick Lovable Free for that. Code download is on Pro. v0 lists GitHub sync on Free.
- You want the URL to last on the free plan: do not pick Replit Starter for a page you need next month. It comes down after 30 days.
- You want several people on one bill: Lovable's published plans do not charge per seat. Bolt Teams does. v0 Plus is per user.
- You already have a repo: none of these. Use coding agents.
Then build one page. The steps are in how to build an app without coding in 2026 and in the shorter first app guide. One tool. No login. One change. Save the URL.
Advanced path
If you are comparing free tiers on purpose
The useful difference is the unit and the exit.
Bolt's unit is tokens, and file sync is a large part of the bill, so a growing project gets more expensive per message even when your prompt stays short. Leaving Bolt Free means accepting branding or paying for Pro. Lovable's unit is a shared credit, and the exit from Free is a paid plan if you need the code. v0's unit on Free is messages, then dollars of credits on Plus, and the exit is GitHub plus Vercel, which is a real path if you already host there. Vercel Hobby is $0 for a personal, non-commercial project and is not the same product as v0. Replit's exit from Starter is Core, or you lose the published app after 30 days.
None of that is a benchmark. The benchmarks page is public model scores with sources and dates. It is not a ranking of these builders.

Questions
Which free builder is best?
This site has not built the same app in each one, so it does not name a tested best. Bolt and Lovable have the higher beginner-fit number, and that number is an editorial reading, not a lab score.
Is free actually free?
The plans below are $0 to start, with a ceiling. Bolt shows branding and a token cap. Lovable caps daily build credits and does not include code download. v0 caps messages. Replit takes the free published app down after 30 days. Those limits were read on 15 October 2026.
Can I start on Firebase Studio?
No. Google disabled new signup and new workspace creation on 22 June 2026. Existing workspaces keep working until 22 March 2027.
Does an affiliate link pick the winner?
No. Bolt is the only affiliate link. It is labeled on the Visit site button. The list order on this page is not a ranking, and the link does not change it.
