Firebase Studio
Firebase Studio is Google's agent workspace, and it is sunsetting. New signup and new workspaces have been disabled since 22 June 2026. Access for existing workspaces is still described as no cost until 22 March 2027.
Quick verdict
Do not start a new project in Firebase Studio. Google disabled new signup and new workspace creation on 22 June 2026. Existing workspaces keep working until 22 March 2027, when remaining data is deleted. Access is still described as no cost, and some integrations such as App Hosting can require a paid Firebase plan. The migration doc points people to Google AI Studio or Google Antigravity. Checked 15 October 2026.
Pricing
| Plan | Price | Interval | Notes | Source | Checked |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Existing workspace access | $0 | until 22 March 2027 | No-cost access, but new signup and new workspaces have been disabled since 22 June 2026. The old workspace counts on this page no longer apply to new people. | Official source | 2026-10-15 |
| App Hosting and other paid Firebase services | Usage | Blaze plan | Linking a Cloud Billing account upgrades the Firebase project to pay-as-you-go Blaze. Usage past the no-cost quota is charged. | Official source | 2026-10-15 |
Who it's for
- Someone who already has a Firebase Studio workspace and needs the shutdown date.
- A beginner who was about to sign up and should pick a tool that still accepts new users.
- A person whose app is already deployed to Firebase and wants to know that the deployed app is not the thing being deleted.
Pros
- Google prints the shutdown timeline, including the date new signups stopped and the date data is deleted.
- Apps already deployed to Firebase keep running, and core products such as Firestore, Authentication, and App Hosting are not part of the Studio sunset.
- Workspace access itself is described as no cost for people who still have one.
Cons
- You cannot create an account or a workspace if you are new. The quiz on this site will not recommend it as a start.
- Anything you want to keep has to be migrated before 22 March 2027. After that, Google says remaining Studio data is permanently deleted.
- Linking a billing account for App Hosting upgrades the Firebase project to the Blaze plan, so a no-cost workspace can still create a paid Firebase bill.
Test log
No hands-on run is recorded. The lab protocol on the methodology page (a CRUD app, a seeded bug, a refactor, and a Vercel deploy) has not been executed for this page. There is no time, success rate, cost, screenshot, or score to show.
The dates
Google's migration page lists three dates:
- 19 March 2026: the sunset was announced and migration tools started to roll out.
- 22 June 2026: new workspaces and new signups stopped. Existing workspaces still open.
- 22 March 2027: Firebase Studio shuts down and remaining data is deleted.
The pricing doc repeats the June and March dates and says its workspace-count table no longer applies to new registrations. That doc's own "last updated" line was 13 October 2026 UTC.
What this page does not claim
It does not review Google AI Studio or Antigravity. It does not say an old Firebase Studio app was tested here. If you need a database and you are starting today, read the Supabase page and the database guide instead.
Questions
Can I sign up for Firebase Studio today?
No. The docs say new user signup and new workspace creation were disabled on 22 June 2026.
What happens to an app I already deployed?
The pricing doc says apps already deployed to Firebase keep running after the sunset, and core Firebase products are not shut down with Studio.
Where does Google say to go instead?
The migration page names Google AI Studio and Google Antigravity. This site does not yet have separate pricing pages for those products.
