Beginner fit is an editorial reading, not a lab score. The dashboard can create a database without writing a server first. You still have to learn what a key, a table, and a paused project mean.

Supabase is hosted Postgres with auth, storage, and APIs. Free is $0 with 500 MB per project and a pause after one week of inactivity. Pro starts at $25 a month.

Quick verdict

Supabase Free is $0, with two active projects, 500 MB of database, and a pause after one week idle. Pro starts at $25 a month and includes $10 of compute credit, which covers one Micro instance. Team starts at $599 a month. Enterprise is custom. A second Micro project on Pro is extra because compute is per project. Those figures are from supabase.com/pricing on 15 October 2026.

Who it's for

Pros

Published product traits. Not lab findings.

  • Unlimited API requests are listed on every plan, including Free.
  • Spend caps are on by default on Pro, so usage past the plan limits does not bill until you turn the cap off.
  • The pricing FAQ says you can self-host with Docker or the CLI.

Cons

Published limits and pricing constraints. Not lab findings.

  • Free projects pause after one week of inactivity, and you can only have two active ones.
  • The $25 Pro price is the plan. Each extra project adds its own compute bill. Supabase's example of two Micro projects is $35 a month after the $10 credit.
  • Auth, storage, and egress past the included amounts are usage charges. The base price is not a ceiling unless the spend cap stays on.

Test log

No hands-on run is recorded. The lab protocol on the methodology page (a CRUD app, a seeded bug, a refactor, and a Vercel deploy) has not been executed for this page. There is no time, success rate, cost, screenshot, or score to show.

What it is

Supabase is a hosted Postgres database with auth, file storage, realtime, and edge functions in the same project. You can ignore the parts you do not use. The pricing page says unused products cost nothing, and a project can be a database only.

Billing is per organization, then per project compute. That split is the sentence that keeps a $25 plan from becoming a surprise.

What this page does not claim

There is no benchmark of the API and no tutorial that was run in this lab. The database guide on this site is a beginner explanation that points back here for the numbers.

Questions

Will a free Supabase project stay online if I forget it?

No. The pricing page says free projects pause after one week of inactivity. Paid projects are not paused for inactivity.

Is Pro $25 for as many projects as I want?

No. $25 is the organization plan and includes one Micro instance via a $10 credit. Supabase's own example says two Micro projects cost $35 a month: $25 plus $10 plus $10, minus the $10 credit.

Did this site measure query speed?

No. This is a reading of the pricing page on 15 October 2026.
