Multi-agent setups that stay reviewable

Updated 2026-10-15. Sourced from vendor docs · verified 15 Oct 2026 · hands-on test pending wherever a sentence depends on a vendor page.

Use more than one agent only when each one has a job and a branch. Two agents in the same files will overwrite each other.

Answer

A multi-agent setup is two or more agents with separate jobs, such as one editing and one reviewing. It is not four chats on the same branch. Devin Desktop's FAQ describes a command center for local and cloud agents. This page does not claim a tested arrangement.

Beginner path

You probably want one agent

If this is your first app, use one chat. A second agent feels productive and usually duplicates the same files.

Finish the beginner guides first. Come back when you can read a diff.

Advanced path

A setup you can explain

Give each agent a job and a boundary.

  • Editor agent. Cursor, Copilot, or Devin Desktop. It may edit the branch you named.
  • Review pass. A second session that is not allowed to edit, only to list risks in the diff. Copilot's plans page lists code review as a feature row. This guide does not claim which plan includes every review button, because the checkmarks did not survive a plain-text read of that table.
  • Cloud task. Replit's plan table lists background tasks starting at Core (one) and Pro (ten). Devin's FAQ separates Devin Cloud from the desktop app. Do not assume a desktop subscription includes cloud runs.
Reviewer that cannot edit
You are reviewing only. Do not edit files.
Read the current git diff.
List bugs, missing env vars, and tests that should exist.
Ignore style nits.
Stop after ten bullets.

Rules that every agent should see belong in AGENTS.md, not in a chat you will close. The Devin FAQ says Devin Desktop reads AGENTS.md and can import Cursor rules.

  • Each agent has a branch or a read-only job.
  • AGENTS.md says how to test.
  • Cloud runs are on a plan that includes them.
  • I can name which agent last touched the files.

Questions

Will two agents be faster?

Not by default. They are faster only when the work splits cleanly, such as one agent on a branch and another reviewing the diff. This site has not timed that.

What is Devin's command center?

The Devin Desktop FAQ says the Agent Command Center is the primary view after the June 2026 rename, for managing local and cloud agents. It also says you can keep using local-only agents.
